Last month the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) announced an agreement to adopt a common set of physician quality metrics. This Consensus Set, identified by the healthcare systems participating in the federal Core Quality Measures Collaborative, overlaps (by design) with several other measurement sets in current use. Providers should take comfort from the fact that they are already collecting most of these measures, though there are modifications to several.
